You can assume that the data are sampled at 10 Million samples/second.



1) Read the two files in above and plot their periodograms (i.e., absolute value of fft). The second file is identical to the first 1250 samples of the second file. The second is much longer. Taking into consideration our discussion of spectral interferometry, explain the differences in the periodograms.

2) In class we considered the superposition of two gaussians separated in time by some delta t. Generalize this to n gaussians each separated by delta t. You can compute the FT of each term. The resulting sum can be done analytically since it is a geometric series. Plot the results in Mathematica for a few different numbers of pulses. Explain the results.
